A good idea, gone wrong

Ever have what you think is a great idea that just doesn’t turn out the way you planed it? That very thing was my Tuesday night. Let me give you a bit of a back-story; at work my boss has been telling me for quite some time that I needed a hair cut. Let me pause here a moment to say that I’m the kinda of person who doesn’t believe in spending a lot of money on clothes, haircuts, and other things that “make you look attractive.” Needless to say I didn’t really a) think I needed a hair cut and b) didn’t really want to pay for one. So at about 10:30 on that idol Tuesday I asked my brother if he had ever cut hair. He looked at me and said “I’m willing to give it a try if you are.”

This lead to the top 5 things I never want to hear the person cutting my hair say:

5. Well the barber does it a whole lot more.
4. Oh, that’s how I should have done it from the beginning.
3. How did I mess that up?
2. We can always shave it.
1. We are now trying from good, to sorta ok.

and now for your viewing enjoyment….

Live to Work or Work to Live?

As I was pondering on what I want to do with my life I got to thinking, there are two main groups that the working class can be categorized in: those who live to work  and those  work to live. I want to be the kind of person who accomplishes the former. The kind of person who is able to love what I do. I want to be the kind of person who when it is all said and done people won’t say I lived a normal life. I want them to say I did extraordinary things, that I helped people and that I was part of a bigger movement to change the world.

Art, Love, and Movement, these are just some of the ways I hope to accomplish this!

21 till 21

It just dawned on me that in 21 days from today I will be 21 years of age. This is just one of those interesting things that only happen once a lifetime really. Maybe it’s just that I’m super excited for my 21st birthday. Yes, I’m a little scared to I hear after you turn 21 it’s all down hill, or maybe it’s all up hill, or is it over the hill and what is it with this metaphorical hill anyway?

Well keeping that in mind I’ll leave you with this quote “[life] it works so much better when you follow though”

Labyrinth

Labyrinth: any confusingly intricate state of things or events; a bewildering complex. Not to mention a movie by Jim Henson and one of the strangest movies of the 80’s. Why am I bring this up? Well because tonight that’s what I spend 101 minutes doing was watching this classic on the big screen. This is one of the most unique movies one will ever watch they just don’t make them like they use to. If you ask me Jim Henson needs to rise from the dead and start making movies again. Teach the computer age that sometimes it’s just better to do it the old fashion way.

In more serious news, I once again had an interesting conversation on the bus ride home. A man accidentally touched me with his shoe then apologized profusely. I simply said it was ok and turned around to continue staring out the window. He then tapped me on the shoulder and then said “do you believe in Jesus?” I was very taken aback by this and to be honest I didn’t want to answer right away. But I just smiled and said yes. Then he asked me to pray for him and his 2 daughters as he is going though a divorce, money is tight and he only gets to see his kids once a week. I found this very humbling that a man I just meet a mere 30 seconds earlier was asking ME to pray for him. He was a bit more charismatic about religion than I am but that doesn’t matter. So if you would like to join me in praying for this gentleman his name is Al. That’s pretty much all I know about him.
