Bus rides and pet peeves’

For those of you who don’t know I take the bus pretty much everywhere I go. Meaning, I spend a lot of my time with sweaty, smelly, intoxicated, old, interesting and otherwise wired people, but I’m not going to talk about that. I am however going to talk about a certain incident on the bus ride to work today that really opened my eyes to the way I view the world and the kind of person I am.

If you have ever rode a King County Metro bus you know that the seats are slick, causing your body and your stuff to move around when the bus goes around sharp corners, or any corner for that matter. Today, I was sitting next to a elderly woman who had her bag on the seat next to her and was quite cough up in a conversation with a man, who appeared to be her husband, and two children, who appeared to be her grandchildren. We went around a fairly severe corner and her bag started to slide. Never to fear though, I was quick to act and used my foot to hold it in place until she was able to grab it and place it back on the seat. She seamed to not notice me and kept on having her conversation with the people she was with. This really pissed me off, I couldn’t help but think to myself “why didn’t she say thank you, see if I help her again.” I just kept on being bitter for the next couple of minutes until right before she got off she looked at me and smiled and said “thank you” as she pointed to her bag.

It’s funny in life how sometimes we do good for the reward and not for the better of humanity. How we like to be noticed, thanked and loved for our actions. On that same note, I personally find it quite annoying when I am thanked disingenuously for doing something where it would have been better to just keep your mouth shut than to thank me for something you aren’t actually thankful for.

Be real, be selfless.

Battle Within

What I have been thinking a lot about lately is this, are our lives really what we make them? I often will here people say “when life gives you lemons, make lemon aid”, “make it a great day or not, the choice is yours”, and “be happy because there is no reason to be sad.” I can’t help but think is this true? Are our lives merely what we make them?

Let me back the truck up for a second, I’m not saying don’t be happy or that we can’t control our own happiness. All I’m trying to figure out, or point out is this, sometimes in life it’s OK to be sad, or not happy. I am just sick and tired of watching “Cheerful Charlie’s” go though life pretending to be happy because they don’t want to deal with people thinking they are sad. However, on that same note, I’m tired of seeing people be “Dorthy Downers” all the time as well. In our lives we need moderation as well as not being afraid to be ourselves.
Be yourself!

Lights, Camera, Action!

Since this is my first blog entry I figured I would set the scene. The purpose of this blog is to tell you what is going on in my life as well as provide you with random fun, geeky and even sometimes crazy information. I would also like to note, I am not a literary scholar. Therefore, if you are an: English teacher, writer, grammar Nazi, or most likely if you have a high school diploma, you will find all sorts of grammar issues and spelling mistakes. Don’t let this get to you, and I will do my best to keep them out of this blog but I make no promises. This Blog isn’t designed to be published or looked over with a fine tooth comb. It is meant to be more of a Journal or online diary.

Why have a public diary you might ask? For me, blogging isn’t about keeping secrets from the world, keeping them in a little black diary that i hid under my bed hoping that no one will find it. It’s about life, love, and, people. I will use this blog as a point to look back on my life and to see how I have, or haven’t, grown up.

Feel free to at any time leave comments about what I write as I do care about what you think. It is my goal that we are able to learn from each other.

Let the saga begin!
